Remarks: Presence in Tanzania is based on a single report from southern Tanzania (Spawls, Howell, Hinkel & Menegon 2018), far from other records of the species, so presence in the country requires confirmation.

Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of hotamboeia (e.g., Boulenger 1896; Loveridge 1957). Revalidated by Rasmussen (1985). Presence in Chad first confirmed by Trape, Kodindo, Djiddi, Mad-Toïngué & Kerah (2020), but the species had appeared in error on maps of Chippaux (1999) and Chippaux & Jackson (2019).
