Contents: 7 species, of which 4 (57.1%) are endemic.

Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of Ophisaurus (e.g., Wermuth 1969). Revalidated by Conrad (2008) and Conrad, Ast, Montanari & Norell (2010).
Distribution: SE. Asia, Indonesia.
Reported from: Bhutan, China (Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan, Zhejiang), India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, West Bengal), Indonesia (Kalimantan, Sumatra), Laos, Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak), Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

Remarks: Presence in Vietnam is restricted to the northern part of the country. A record from southern Vietnam (Campden-Main 1970) refer to sokolovi (Brygoo 1987; David & Ineich 2009).

Remarks: Previously included ludovici. Bain & Nguyen's (2004) record from Ha Giang refer to gracilis (Nguyen, Böhme, Nguyen, Le, Pahl, Haus & Ziegler 2011). Ophisaurus formosensis was overlooked by Wermuth (1969) in his checklist of the family.
Distribution: China (Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang), Laos, Taiwan, Vietnam.

Remarks: Previously regarded as a synonym of harti (e.g., Pope 1929; Smith 1935; Zhao & Adler 1993; Nguyen, Ho & Nguyen 2009) or as a valid species (e.g., Brygoo 1987; Bobrov 1993, 1995; Das 2010). Validity confirmed by Nguyen, Böhme, Nguyen, Le, Pahl, Haus & Ziegler (2011). Records from Sichuan, China (e.g., Nguyen, Böhme, Nguyen, Le, Pahl, Haus & Ziegler 2011), need confirmation (Nguyen 2019).
Distribution: Vietnam.
