Remarks: Previously included sabinensis. Formerly regarded as a subspecies of pseudogeographica (e.g., Conant & Collins 1998), but most recent publications regard it as a separate species (e.g., Vogt 1978, Ward 1980; Iverson 1992, Fritz & Havas 2006; Dijk, Iverson, Rhodin, Shaffer & Bour 2014).
Introduced to: USA (Florida).

Remarks: Previously regarded as a subspecies of ouachitensis. Ward (1980) suggested that sabinensis deserved full species status. This was followed by some (e.g., Vetter 2004), as opposed to others (e.g., Fritz & Havas 2006; Bickham, Iverson, Parham, Philippen, Rhodin, Shaffer, Spinks & van Dijk 2007; Iverson, Meylan & Seidel in Crother (ed.) 2008). Regarded herein as a separate species, following Rhodin, Iverson, Bour, Fritz, Georges, Shaffer & Dijk (2021).
Distribution: USA (Louisiana, Texas).
