Remarks: Mott & Vieites (2009) synonymized Leposternon (as well as Anops, Aulura, Bronia, and Cercolophia) with Amphisbaena. These genera are retained as valid herein, following many subsequent works (e.g., Ribeiro, Nogueira, Cintra, Silva & Zaher 2011; Ribeiro, Santos-Junior & Zaher 2015; Costa & Bernils 2014; Cacciali, Scott, Aquino-Ortiz, Fitzgerald & Smith 2016, Ribeiro, Silveira & Santos-Junior 2018).
Distribution: South America.
