The different types of maps available in the 1st edition of the RepFocus e-book

In the Taxonomy section, distribution maps come in two different varieties:

(1) "Red maps" (3398 maps):

Click on the map to see large version (1000x500 pixels).

(2) Provisional "yellow maps" (629 maps):

Click on the map to see large version (1000x500 pixels).

A yellow map (629 genera) is just an outline of the distribution, provided to give an idea of the general distribution, until a more accurate map ("red map") has been produced. Every country or province in which the genus occurs will be shown with yellow, regardless of how wide the distribution is within each country or province. Consequently, yellow maps are not precise, but they will give you an indication of the distribution. The red maps are much more accurate, based on published distribution maps and/or exact locality information. All yellow maps will eventually be replaced by red maps in future editions of RepFocus.

All families and higher taxonomic categories and about half of the genera have already been provided with red maps. In the 1st edition of RepFocus, 2709 species (24%) are provided with maps (all red). More will be added in future editions of RepFocus.

In the Geography section, the countries or regions in the maps are green:

If the map shows a specific part of a country, only that part is green, whereas the remainder of the country is blue:
