Contents: 4 species, none of which are endemic.

Remarks: Previously regarded as a subgenus of Kachuga (now a synonym of Batagur). Elevated to status as a separate genus by Das (2001), and later confirmed by Spinks, Shaffer, Iverson & McCord (2004).
Distribution: S. Asia.

Remarks: Claimed to occur in Bhutan by Ahmed, Das & Dutta (2009), however, it was not included by Wangyal, Wangchuk & Das (2012), although these authors did consider the species likely to occur in the country. Subsequently confirmed for the country by Wangyal, Bower, Sherub, Tshewang, Wangdi & al. (2020).
Distribution: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, West Bengal).

Remarks: Although reported to occur in Jammu & Kashmir by many authors (e.g., Das 2001; Duda, Dutta & Sahi 1977; Frazier & Das 1994; Moll 1987; Sahi & Duda 1985, 1996), the state is excluded herein, following Rhodin, Iverson, Bour, Fritz, Georges, Shaffer & Dijk (2017).

Remarks: Schleich & Kästle (2002) regarded flaviventer as a separate species. Fritz & Havas (2006) retained it as a subspecies of tentoria, due to lack of evidence. Considered regionally extinct in Gujarat (Patel & Vyas 2019).
