Remarks: Both species of this genus have been referred to as Black Tree Cobra, not to be confused with Naja melanoleuca.
Distribution: Equatorial Africa.
Reported from: Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Equatorial Guinea (Bioko, Rio Muni), Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda.
