Rhinobothryum bovallii

False Tree Coral Snake

Baum-Korallennatter

Træ-koralsnog

1916 Rhinobothrium bovallii Andersson

Remarks: Presence in Guatemala, although reported by some authors (e.g., Campbell & Vannini 1989), is highly unlikely (McCranie 2011; Turcios-Casco, Galdámez, Salazar-Saavedra & McCranie 2018). Older records from Nicaragua (Villa, Wilson & Johnson 1988; Köhler 1999) are regarded as erroneous (Sunyer 2014; HerpetoNica 2015; Turcios-Casco, Galdámez, Salazar-Saavedra & McCranie 2018), however, the species has recently been recorded from the country (Martínez-Fonseca, Loza, Fernández, Salazar-Saavedra & Sunyer 2019; Meza-Joya, Rojas-Morales & Ramo 2020). Erroneously regarded as a synonym of lentiginosum by Cole, Townsend, Reynolds, MacCulloch & Lathrop (2013) (Kok & Pauwels 2015).
Distribution: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela.
