Contents: 2 species, none of which are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: Some of the most variable snake species in the world, in terms of pattern, a fact that previously led zoologists to regard it as a complex of several species, although the genus previously has been considered monotypic.
Distribution: E. Mexico, Central America, NW. South America.
Reported from: Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico (Chiapas, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatan), Nicaragua, Panama.

Remarks: Previously included venustissimus. Records from Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and some older records from Nicaragua refer to venustissimus (Köhler 2008; Savage & Bolaños 2009). Pérez-Santos & Moreno (1988) listed dugandi as a separate species. Pérez-Santos, Moreno & Gearhart (1993) listed zeteki as a separate species.
Distribution: Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico (Chiapas, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatan), Nicaragua.
