Taxonomy of the family Typhlopidae
Bibliography of the genus Madatyphlops
Biodiversity of the family Typhlopidae

Genus
Madatyphlops

Malagasy Blind Snakes

Madagascar-Blindschlangen

Madagascar-ormeslanger

2014 Madatyphlops Hedges, Marion, Lipp, Marin & Vidal (type species: Onychocephalus arenarius Grandidier 1872)
2014 Lemuriatyphlops Pyron & Wallach (type species: Typhlops microcephalus Werner 1909; syn. Nagy, Marion, Glaw, Miralles, Nopper, Vences & Hedges 2015)
Contents: 14 species, of which 13 (92.9%) are endemic.
Endemism: 0% 100%
Remarks: The species of this genus were formerly included in the genus Typhlops. Pyron & Wallach (2014) included four African species (Afrotyphlops calabresii, A. cuneirostris, A. platyrhynchus, Rhinotyphlops leucocephalus) in Madatyphlops, but this was rejected by Nagy, Marion, Glaw, Miralles, Nopper, Vences & Hedges (2015). Following these authors, the genus is endemic to the Comoro Archipelago and Madagascar, according to available information, however, the origin of albanalis is uncertain.
Distribution: Comoro Islands (Anjouan, Grande Comoro), Madagascar (incl. Nosy Be).
