Distribution: Bangladesh, India (Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, West Bengal), Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand.

Remarks: The forms mackinnoni and venningi may represent valid species (Wallach 1999). Not present in Sri Lanka (Vyas, Ganesan, Srinivasulu, Wogan, Das, Chan-Ard, Srinivasulu & Vijayakumar 2021, based on pers. comm. with N. Wickramasinghe 2019), although reported by some authors (e.g., Silva 1990; McDiarmid, Campbell & Toure 1999; Das & Silva 2005). Presence in Singapore needs confirmation (Figueroa, Low & Lim 2023). Presence in Bangkok is presumably based on an introduction, but the species occurs in northern Thailand (Vyas & al. 2021). Presumed to occur in Bangladesh (Vyas & al. 2021), and reported from the country by some authors (e.g., Sarker & Sarker 1985; Das 1996; Khan 2004). Records from Myanmar have not been confirmed in recent surveys (Vyas & al. 2021, based on pers. comm. with G. Wogan 2011). Not mentioned for Nepal by Vyas & al. (2021). Not mentioned for Kerala by Palot (2015). Not mentioned for Punjab by Singh, Dutta & Singh (2021).
