Remarks: The phylogeny of Pyron, Burbrink & Wiens (2013) indicated non-monophyly with respect to Celestus and Diploglossus.
Distribution: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil (Alagoas, Bahia, Ceara, Distrito Federal, Espirito Santo, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Parana, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro [incl. Ilha Grande Island], Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondonia, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo, Sergipe), Paraguay, Uruguay.

Remarks: Hoogmoed & Gruber (1983) considered fragilis and striatus to belong to the same species, but fragilis was shown to be identical to the species previously known as yacupoi by Martins (1998) in an unpublished thesis, who synonymized yacupoi with fragilis (Avila, Martinez & Morando 2013). Not mentioned for Mato Grosso do Sul by Ferreira, Terra, Piatti, Delatorre, Strüssmann, Béda, Kawashita-Ribeiro, Landgref-Filho, Aoki, Campos, Souza, Ávila, Duleba, Martins, Rita & Albuquerque (2017).
Distribution: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil (Bahia, Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo), Paraguay.
